25 Weigh The Cost

If you don’t think that the Bible is connected from the front cover to the back, read John 1.  In The Beginning starts HERE.

If you don’t think that Jesus cares about the little things, read about the Miracle at Cana in John 2.  Jesus Saves The Best For Now.

If you don’t think that Jesus loves the world and everyone in it, read John 3.  Jesus Came To Save The Lost.

If you don’t think that Jesus can free you from your sin, read about the Samaritan woman in John 4.  Jesus Meets With, AND RESTORES, The Wretched.

If you don’t think that Jesus wants to heal you, read about the healing at the pool in John 5.  Jesus Allows Us TO CHOOSE If We Want To Be Well.

If you think Jesus was just an ordinary guy, read John 6:32-35.  He Was Either God…..Or He Was COMPLETELY CRAZY.  Any historian who says He was a prophet or a magician or a rebel——did not read the eyewitness testimony or history books that are outside the Bible.  Jesus Was EXTRAOrdinary.

I encourage you today:  Weigh The Cost.  Jesus said that and I think it is great advice for all that we do.

But it is even better advice for ALL THAT YOU ARE.

John paints an incredible, undeniable, and truth seeking picture of the God who loved us too much to leave us here broken.  We can be well and restored.  We can be invited and received.  We can be living in the greatest moment of our existence.

But we can’t do it alone.

Take my challenge today:

Cry out for Jesus to come into the deep and dark places in your soul.  Don’t mess around worrying about where you don’t measure up and why you didn’t do this that or the other…..Instead:  Weigh The Cost.

You can take on Lucifer, your brokenness, and your ultimate death all by yourself….or you can request Him to come and seal up the holes in your sinking ship and give you something that will sail.

In Matthew 16:13-20, Jesus stood on a spot where they literally sacrificed babies (Caesarea Philippi…The Gates of Hell) and called out Satan, Sin, and Death.

What are you going to do without Him?

Jesus offered Peter an opportunity to walk away from Him in John 6 and to summarize Peter, he said:

Lord, where will I go?  You, and You alone, hold the keys to eternal life.

If a broken, backstabbing, coward like Peter can figure it out and be a hero of the faith after Jesus gets a hold of him…..then why can’t I?

In the Name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.  Amen.

24 We Can Do Better Part 2

A man named Solomon had all the means and the power and the time to do whatever he wanted.  And so he did.  He pursued power, he pursued pleasure, he pursued wisdom, he pursued riches.  As he says in his journal, which we can read in Ecclesiastes, he “denied himself nothing”.  He did whatever he wanted, whenever he wanted, with whoever he wanted.  In pursuit of being fulfilled, however, he found himself empty.

Ecclesiastes 2 11 Yet when I surveyed all that my hands had done and what I had toiled to achieve, everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind; nothing was gained under the sun.

And he even mentioned something that has stuck with me since the first time that I read it.

Ecclesiastes 3 10 …… He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end.

He puts the question of eternity on their hearts, but does not give them the answer.

He has put eternal questions on our hearts, but the answers to them seem far from us.  For thousands of years men have been pursuing the meaning of life.  We even have our slogans as we move forward.  Today, it is YOLO.  When I was growing up, it was:  “tonight we’re gonna party like it’s 1999!!”.  Yet 1999 is gone, the guy who sang it (Prince) is gone, and YOLO is going to come and go as well.  There are two things that we can be sure of with regards to this issue:

  1. Someone will come up with a new slogan
  2. Using a slogan is looking at a temporary solution to a permanent situation

The Father has a better plan.

Solomon finds it at the end of his book.

I have found it.

Have you found it?  Because if you have not—-you can do better.

It is the Lord.  He is the eternal being that made us.  And yes, he sets eternity on our hearts but does not give us the answer.  But that’s because He is the Answer:  Through Jesus He gave us full access to the Answer.

2000 years ago Jesus sealed it that we might not have to worry about tomorrow or eternity because He gave us the chance to come into His Kingdom.  He gave us the chance to walk out our days trying to bring the Kingdom He owns into this short one that we live.

You see, that is our call.  Start with the Lord’s prayer:

Thy Kingdom Come

At the beginning of my faith, I wanted more.  Give me more verses, more learning, MORE……

That is human nature…..to want more.  But I think that Jesus taught that simple prayer in Matthew 6 and Luke 11 because sometimes our desire to have more disables us from the very thing that we need…..just a simple connection to the Lord and the realization that WE CAN NOT, ON OUR OWN, GET MORE.  If we get Him, we get all that we need….and the only way we get MORE…..is through Him!!

So cry out with that request:  Thy Kingdom Come!

Start your day, your week, your year with trying to bring Him here.  Because with Him comes hope, and peace, and love, and purpose……and more than we could ever want.  Having Him eliminates sickness, and sadness, and brokenness.  Having Him means not saying goodbye, not saying I regret, and not saying I don’t measure up.

He is the Light in the dark places, the Lion to drive out the enemy, the Lamb who you can go to, the Beginning of your days, the Counselor who can listen, the Priest who will revive you, the Ladder for you to go into heaven, the Living Water so you won’t go thirsty, the Bread of life, the Substitute for our sin, the Life who overcame death, and the Teacher who can show us…..

  • With Him we don’t need to ask the question about eternity because He has covered it.
  • With Him we don’t need to worry about our loved ones because He loves them more than we ever could.
  • With Him we don’t need to say YOLO because we have Him today and tomorrow we will have Him also.
  • With Him we don’t need to be rich because He owns the cattle on a thousand hills.
  • With Him we don’t need to fear death because He defeated it.
  • With Him we have no need to worry about the enemy because the enemy is destined to lose.

So, today, my friend, cry out for Thy Kingdom Come.

Because He has today and He had today before you knew it would come and He had today back before you were even in existence.  He Had Today!  And guess what:  He has tomorrow also!

So if you don’t know where to go today to start your day or to start your quiet time…..go to:  Thy Kingdom Come

And when you say it…don’t recite it.  Say it with Faith and Belief.  Say it with the knowledge that He has it and can do it………because YOLO won’t work.  But Thy Kingdom Come will work 100% of the time and every time.

In the Name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.  Amen.

23 We Can Do Better

2 Samuel 11  2 One evening David got up from his bed and walked around on the roof of the palace. From the roof he saw a woman bathing. The woman was very beautiful, 3 and David sent someone to find out about her. The man said, “Isn’t this Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam and the wife of Uriah the Hittite?” 4 Then David sent messengers to get her. She came to him, and he slept with her.

The reality for most of us is that He has blessed us beyond what we deserve….yet we still stand on the top of our “palace” on cruise control and gaze:

  • Over the city we did not create
  • At the position we did not earn
  • From the throne we did not get elected to

And we somehow think that we deserve something that is not ours.

If this does not apply to you….stop reading this post right now……but if it does apply to you—then you are like me.

I put myself up on a throne I did not earn and, just like David, and think I am some kind of giant killer…..and then the arrogance creeps in.  And soon I am seeking something that does not belong to me.

Lord forgive me when I do this—for these actions prove that I am not worthy to be called Yours.

David had so much.

He had killed a giant with a slingshot.

He had been pursued to be killed by a ruthless dictator and survived.

He had won battle after battle.

He had acted honorably in so many situations.

And yet, here he was, standing on the roof of his palace when he should have been with his men.  Sin is never too far from any of us…….

David, and all who were under him, suffered greatly for this one choice.

He writes about it in Psalms.

And yet David made a GREAT decision.  He humbled himself and wrote about his colossal failure.  Had he chosen not to do so then we would not know who he is…..Why would he shed himself in such a terrible light in the Word of God?

It’s because it is not about him.  This book is about God!  It is about He who gives us the strength to get through any circumstance.

It is about the Lord working through us to make a great story.  For He is the Author of our lives should we let Him come and know us!

As David wrote in Psalms 51:10:  “Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.”

Thank you Jesus that I can read about men who failed…..because I know that if you can work through a man who failed……then you can use me.

When the prodigal son returned home he said:

“Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you.  I am no longer worthy to be called your son.  Make me one of your hired hands.”

Sometimes I think we all need to hit reset button and say this to the Lord.  Let’s not wallow in guilt—but let’s also remember not to stand on the top of the palace, look over the city, and take credit for things that the Lord has done……….

In the Name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.  Amen.

22 The Politics Of God Part 2

Charles Coalson once said something that really convicted me.  He said:  “The hope that each of us have is not in who governs us, or what laws are passed, or what great things that we do as a nation. Our hope is in the power of God working through the hearts of people, and that’s where our hope is in this country; that’s where our hope is in life.”

My question today is:  Do we truly understand the power of God working through the hearts of people?  And, more importantly, do we understand the power of God working in our own heart?

Sometimes we simply aim too low.

As is ALWAYS the case, God has given us the answer and it is always available BEFORE we seek it…..but often, we do not see it until we “think” we are in a bind.

Jeremiah 12  7Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the LORD for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.”

All of us have ended up in a situation where we did not want to be.

It could be a job, a team, a role, a school, a city, or whatever it might be.  What happens when we feel stuck in a spot where we don’t want to be?

If we ask the Lord:  He will tell us to change our environment.

Not live with our environment.

Not endure our environment.

Not complain about our environment.

CHANGE our environment.

Nothing great has ever happened when someone walked into a situation where all was perfect and simply fit in.

Greatness occurs when someone comes in and changes his or her surroundings.  One man can not physically change a situation……but a man who has the anointing of God can change a country.  And God has offered His anointing to anyone who will get on His knees to proclaim Jesus King, walk under the authority of His Word, and humbly follow, pray and listen to what He is trying to do.

This is not a sentence written in a nice novel.

It is a promise in the Word of God.

So what are we waiting for?  We need to stop focusing on our issues and our deficiencies and our problems and start focusing on the fact that the King of the Universe wants to do something amazing right where we are.

Read that verse and meditate on it.  And I challenge you to do what I do:  Apply it to March 29, 2017 and make it be TODAY.  Ask God to give you daily bread for today:

Jeremiah 12  7Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the LORD for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.”

Seek the good of your situation….because if it gets blessed–you will too!

In the Name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.  Amen.

21 The Politics Of God

Yesterday, I was blessed to take my family to Mount Rushmore.  I was taken aback by not only the four presidents who are on the mountain, but the artist and men who put it together, the other tributes to states and presidents, and the idea of our beautiful country in general.  Even the simple idea that I can put my 5 kids and wife into a car and drive 6 hours to Rapid City, South Dakota is a miracle and a gift.

But even more than that is the simple idea of government and the idea of what the Lord would have us do in government.  Today, I would like to make reference to Mark’s writings.

Mark 12  13Later they sent some of the Pharisees and Herodians to Jesus to catch him in his words. 14They came to him and said, “Teacher, we know you are a man of integrity. You aren’t swayed by men, because you pay no attention to who they are; but you teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. Is it right to pay taxes to Caesar or not? 15Should we pay or shouldn’t we?”

16But Jesus knew their hypocrisy. “Why are you trying to trap me?” he asked. “Bring me a denarius and let me look at it.” They brought the coin, and he asked them, “Whose portrait is this? And whose inscription?”

“Caesar’s,” they replied.

17Then Jesus said to them, “Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s.”

And they were amazed at him.

We live in a very volatile political time.  Never have I seen a bigger chasm of differences and viewpoints…..we are sure of our views and opinions and quick to correct others if they differ from ours……

What would Jesus have to say about this very issue?

I think that He has said it.  We see in Mark that the Pharisees and religious leaders were trying to trick Him and draw Him into a trap.

As I read this, I think of myself.  How often have I used my political view to line up God, or someone else, with what my conviction was?

Here is our reality and the very thing that we should face up to in 2017:

Jesus showed up in one of the most incredible times in human history in a place where there was incredible clash between politics, religion, and culture.  Trying to find a balance between Jewish religion, Roman rule, Sadducees, Gentiles, Samaritans, and all of the different types of people and views could drive you crazy…….but none of that mattered to Jesus.

  • He did not fight political battles…..though many things needed fixed.
  • He did little to challenge the Romans…..though they were ruling with an iron fist.
  • He was not concerned with how He looked to His friends or the people in His faith.
  • He cared nothing of what a woman was allowed to do or not to do, whether a man was “clean” or “unclean”, or whether His religious friends would shun Him for meeting with people who were considered heathens.
  • He did not try to make money or accumulate wealth.
  • He did not try to influence large groups of people.
  • He did not try to do the “popular” thing….even “inviting” people to leave Him if they did not like what He had to say.

This verse characterizes both us…..and Him.  The religious leaders want Him dead—and so they are using politics to trick Him so they can kill Him.  How often do we use politics to advance our own personal agenda or deal with our own personal pain?

But let’s not focus on the negatives.  Let’s focus on the truth:

  1. No government or leader can steal your hope.  No government or leader can put hope on you.  ONLY the LORD can put hope on you.
  2. People are not rescued or healed or brought out of bondage with policies.  They are brought into freedom by the LORD and the LORD alone.
  3. Rules and standards are blessings….not fences….not restrictions….not joy stealers.  The Lord tells us not to do things or TO DO things to bring us freedom.  The enemy entices and tempts…..so that he can turn and condemn us with the very mistake that he enticed us to do.

So if the Lord has called you to do something in politics—go for it.  But if He has not——go have the greater impact by loving, praying, blessing, giving, and encouraging others to press into the greatest ruler they could ever want:

Jesus.

Because while I love freedom and I love what those guys on Mount Rushmore did to give me a great life under a democratic rule…….

I CAN’T WAIT TO LIVE UNDER A DICTATOR:  JESUS CHRIST!

Because having Jesus as my Lord will solve every problem!

In the Name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.  Amen.

20 You Make No Difference

John 7  3Jesus’ brothers said to him, “You ought to leave here and go to Judea, so that your disciples may see the miracles you do.  4No one who wants to become a public figure acts in secret.  Since you are doing these things, show yourself to the world.”  5For even his own brothers did not believe in him.  6Therefore Jesus told them, “The right time for me has not yet come; for you any time is right.

As a believer in Jesus, I have had close friends mock both me and my faith.  I have been made fun of and mocked and they have also mocked Jesus in front of me as a means to be a clown.

Growing up in the faith, this at first hurt me…..but I soon realized that I did not need to defend myself, or Him, unless I specifically felt Him ask me to do so.

After all, this is the guy who cleared the temple….with a whip….in broad daylight.  They had temple guards, they had Roman Soldiers, and they had religious zealots…..and all of them could have stepped up right then and there and taken Him on man to man….but they did not.  This simply shows me that NO ONE messes with Him unless He lets them.  We did not crucify Him….He willingly went in obedience to the Father and gave up His life for us.

And when He wanted to stand and wants to stand up….He does…..as is shown here with His own brother and brothers.  Think about what He says back to them as they mock Him……the time is not right for ME…..but for you…..any time is right.

In other words, in my words, He is saying:   “I have come to make a difference…..and you….make NO difference.”  OUCH.

I do not want Jesus to say to me:  “You make (or made) no difference”.

This is one of the things that draws me to Jesus….He is a fighter.  And it says in scripture that He is the Lion of the Tribe of Judah.  I have more evidence to show Him as a Lamb (which is also His title) but I look forward to seeing Him also as a Lion.

But this is because I will not mock Him and I will not join those who mock Him.  In my lowest moment, He stepped forward and took the specific punishment that was reserved for me….He took the nails, He took the ridiculing, and He took the separation from the Lord and took the punishment of Satan.

When it was time to step up, He made a difference.  He made all the difference.

And He is ALL OF THE DIFFERENCE.

As we walk through our daily lives we need to remember this and put this out so that others remember this.

Jesus came.

He died.

And He rose again from the dead.

He did this so that we could be delivered and redeemed and brought to a place of true peace.  We sometimes darken this with our own sin or selfishness or pride….but we must never forget that He has done this for us…….and He did this for us so that we could make a difference.

When I talk to the Lord tonight when I go to bed.

When I talk to Him tomorrow as I walk out my day.

When I talk to Him next week as I continue into my routine.

And….when I talk to Him in heaven face to face……..

I want Him so badly to say to me:  You made a difference for MY KINGDOM….and for Me.

In the Name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.  Amen.

19 YOLO?

Yesterday I heard one of my students say “YOLO!”….an acronym for “You Only Live Once!”…..

I love acronyms…..they are on the back and front of my football shirts and I always put my season’s theme in the form of an acronym…..

YOLO is no different….but it always draws me to Revelation 20 and the ‘hair raising’ verse that is written there by the same man who wrote the book of John.

The book of John is so straight forward and clear, yet Revelation is muddy at best.  I always remember that this same man who saw in the flesh is now trying to describe what he is seeing in visions and dreams and ‘in his spirit’ if you will.  One thing that I do know is that it is my lack of knowledge on the REST of the Bible that sometimes makes my judgement cloudy…..and Revelation is written with connection to EVERY book in the Bible—-the more you know about them—-the more you know about Revelation.  This is yet another tribute to this powerful love letter written outside of our time by a God who loves us more than we could ever know.

That being said, I get goosebumps when reading the following passage:

Revelation 20

11Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. Earth and sky fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. 12And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. 13The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what he had done. 14Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. 15If anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.

Lake of Fire

Second Death

Lamb’s book of life

The fact that the “earth and sky fled from his presence”

Our God is an awesome God…..and it says that He is both a Lion and a Lamb—and He is good at both.  Here, I think we get a little picture of the Lion.

At any rate—back to YOLO.  You Only Live Once.

Not a big deal in my mind to condemn everything but I do want to make reference to the TRUTH:  You Only Live Once is NOT a TRUTH.

Our same author tells us in his book of John what is true—and he records it out of a conversation between Nicodemus and Jesus in John 3:

John 3

1Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a member of the Jewish ruling council. 2He came to Jesus at night and said, “Rabbi, we know you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the miraculous signs you are doing if God were not with him.”

3In reply Jesus declared, “I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.”

The entire passage is worth reading but I simply want to make reference to this small bit of it:

I think instead of YOLO we need to be in full knowledge of:

BODT or BTDO

BODT- Born Once Die Twice

BTDO- Born Twice Die Once

I am not a biblical scholar—just a simple man—-but:  I only want to die ONCE!  And I certainly don’t want to see that LAKE OF FIRE thing!

And….after reading that verse again and again……I don’t want that LAKE OF FIRE thing for anyone I know…..I don’t even want it for my worst enemy!!

So….I am casting out a call for you to join me.

  • We have a Bible that spends all of its time talking about Jesus before He comes…ALL of it is about Him.
  • We have a Bible that gives testimony to His life, death, and resurrection when He was here.
  • We have a Bible that gives us a word for us to carry on with the help of the Holy Spirit now that He is gone.

So what do we do with this?

Did Jesus really come?  Was He really here?

Did God send Him to die on that cross and say “it is paid in full” for us to look at that with a calloused heart?

Or did He die so that we could be delivered and get our lives in order and go out and love like He did?

It is our job to get up and go out and LOVE in a way that makes others see us as different and in a way that makes others WANT WHAT WE HAVE!  And we have God’s Spirit to come inside of us and give us the strength and the power to do just that.

So as I would tell my team:  “Get Your Butt Going!”

Father, come and anoint me….fill me with Your Spirit that I might be delivered into a life that is worthy of the call You have put over me!  Help me to be who You have called me to be!!

YOUR Kingdom Come.

YOUR Will Be Done.

On Earth As It Is In Heaven!

Amen.

In the Name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.  Amen.

18 Miracle

What does it take to see the miracle?

Faith

Servanthood

Gratitude

Expectation

The reason that I say this is because of John 2–Jesus first miracle, the miracle at Cana.

John 2

1On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, 2and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. 3When the wine was gone, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no more wine.”   4“Dear woman, why do you involve me?” Jesus replied, “My time has not yet come.”   5His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”   6Nearby stood six stone water jars, the kind used by the Jews for ceremonial washing, each holding from twenty to thirty gallons.  7Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water”; so they filled them to the brim.   8Then he told them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet.”   9They did so, and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside 10and said, “Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.”   11This, the first of his miraculous signs, Jesus performed in Cana of Galilee. He thus revealed his glory, and his disciples put their faith in him.

Jesus first miracle occurred in the town of Cana.  This is the beginning of the story of why I have decided to make Jesus my LORD and SAVIOR.  Lord meaning He is in charge of my life….Savior meaning He is my only hope to find eternal life.

And this story encourages us to do a few things if we truly want Him to “show up” and do something in our wrecked lives.

Faith is what Mary showed when she KNEW that Jesus could fix the situation.

Servanthood allowed men to fill water jars and truly see miracles.  Have you ever seen a miracle?  Notice what John communicates to us:  ONLY the servants saw the miracle.

Gratitude is what the Master of the Banquet showed when he drank the wine….and it is a household truth we should all grasp on to:  Jesus saves the best for now.

Expectation is what I challenge you to do today.  It is our expectation in 2017 combined with seeking out Jesus that leads to us having miraculous things happen in our lives.

Albert Einstein had it figured out, I believe, when he said:  There are only two ways to live your life: as though nothing is a miracle, or as though everything is a miracle.”

I believe that Jesus wants to work in our lives today….restoring friendships and families, rescuing drug addicts, putting hope on people who are lost.  In fact, I have seen Him do so much that I am FULLY CONVINCED of His power in my life.  In John’s book, he constantly refers to himself as the disciple whom Jesus loved…..that was him, that is me, and that is you.

So cry out for a miracle with Faith, Servanthood, Gratitude and Expectation……then write back to the blog and testify to what He did!

In the Name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.  Amen.

17 He Has Prepared A Place For Us

As I stood in church and worshipped one Sunday, a few weeks after my dad had died, I saw a picture of him in heaven.  He was young.  He was healthy.  And he was happy.  The peace that came over me in that moment and in the moments after have filled me and strengthened me.  I still miss him very much…..but I have peace in my heart that I can not explain or understand…..except to maybe someone else who has experienced it……I think, however, that I have read about it in the Bible.

1 Corinthians 2

9 However, as it is written:  “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him”10 but God has revealed it to us by his Spirit.

Dad opened his eyes and looked at us all just before he died.  In my mind, he was coherent and lucid in thought……something he had not been in the 12 months before that moment.  As we all spoke to him and told him how much we loved him, I also held scripture cards in my hand and read them to him.  As this was going on, he looked up at the ceiling in the house I grew up in but seemed to see beyond it…..

I believe that he looked into the heavens and saw that very verse in 1 Corinthians come to life.  I can only describe it by saying that it was one of the best, and worst, days of my life.

My mom has now taken ill.  And I ask that you pray for her, and us, as you see appropriate.  I had a good cry outside her house at Bross Street Assisted Living…..she has been so much to many and now is slowly fading as she enters her 80th year of life.

It is a hard thing to look death in the face …… but it is a reality that we will all face.

What I want to communicate here is this:  Jesus defeated it.

It says in:

Colossians 2

15And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.

I love that verse.  He stood over the enemy like a linebacker stands over a receiver who dared cross the middle into his zone…..and made a spectacle of him.

We have hope and we have a future.  In Jesus we have an eternity to get it right and we all need to cry out to have Him come and start changing us right here and now.

You see, I know some “on fire” followers of Jesus and they inspire me.  I can see Him carry out His work in them and I am challenging you to have Him carry out His work in you.  In Jesus, we not only have a great eternity, we can cry out and have Him fix the now as well.

So let’s remember this day that we are not physical beings living in a spiritual world, but that we are spiritual beings living in a physical world.

I think that’s why we say in the Lord’s Prayer:

Thy Kingdom Come Thy Will Be Done, On Earth As It Is In Heaven.

So let’s cry out and begin to ask Him for His Kingdom to come…..because His Kingdom brings Jesus….and Jesus fixes everything.

In the Name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.  Amen.
