What does forever mean?

Good luck explaining that one to anyone.

How can a finite existence even come close to explaining what something infinite looks like?

It is like an animal in the ocean defining the African desert … or a camel in the African desert explaining the depths of the ocean … or an eagle explaining what’s deep in the covered forest.  You get the point.

And the reality is this.  The giants that we see on this side of eternity are NOTHING compared to the Colossal Entities on the other side.  There are forces of evil that we can not describe … and you can see only glimpses of this evil in the world today.

Yes … Only Glimpses.

And the reality for us is that finite things pale in comparison to the small things “on the other side” … and yet we make them bigger than they are.

Solomon saw this:  Ecclesiastes 3 11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end.

David saw it too.  Psalm 90 12 Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.

James knew.  James 4 14 Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.

And Paul also saw it:  Ephesians 5 15 Be very careful, then, how you live– not as unwise but as wise, 16making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.

We need to move from our small thinking and go to a situation where we understand that living in the dark abyss of the unknown eternal is an enemy that will destroy everything we love and everything that we hold dear.  The things we encounter in the carnal pale in comparison to the entities that populate the other side.

So what do we do?  How can we survive?  Who will protect us?

We simplify.  We find Jesus.  We ask Him to cover us.

And we understand this:

Jesus Christ is not just the Lamb of God

He is the Lion of the Tribe of Judah

He is the Great I Am

He is not just the Teacher

He is the High Priest

And the King

And the One Who Told Me Everything I Ever Knew

And He is offering us something better than: YOLO or FOMO or AI or Instant Access

He is offering us eternal access

To a Kingdom of eternal blessing

In a Place of eternal protection

With a House that is a mighty fortress

And He gives us Water that will quench our thirst

Do not bow down to anything but Him

Do not cower to any adversary

Do not give up any ground

And do not fear the unknown

He Owns It All

And It Is Paid For In Blood

In The Name of the Father and the

Son and the Holy Spirit.  Amen.
